Chin Up Bar for Super Bench/PRO

Boost your back and arm muscle strength with the Chin Up Bar for the Super Bench/PRO. Like most Ironmaster gym equipment, the Chin Up Bar is an extremely durable attachment that offers a superior level of versatility. It gives you the perfect range of motion to work out your lats, biceps and forearms while hardly taking up any additional space. It is also very easy to install so you can work out minutes after unboxing the attachment.

Solid, sturdy and stable

Our Chin Up Bar has a 300lb load rating to support the weight of most trainers. Made of durable materials and proven design.

  • Has a weight load capacity of 300lbs.
  • Upright is made of chrome-plated steel for superior strength.
  • High-quality neoprene grips on the handles offer good comfortable grip and protection against wear and tear.

Versatile and adjustable

Perfectly compatible with the Super Bench/Super Bench PRO, this Ironmaster attachment is a great way to expand your bench workouts by converting it into a pull-up station with two different grip positions to accommodate different kinds of exercises. The height of the Chin Up Bar can also be adjusted to suit users of various heights.

  • It has regular wide grips for your chin-ups and pull-ups.
  • Neutral grips provide an alternate position for your hands to target various muscles of your upper body.
  • The vertical upright bar is adjustable in increments of 2”—from a minimum of 81.5” to a maximum of 89.5” from the floor—giving you more flexibility with your workouts and allowing people of different heights to use it.

Ideal height and range for performing exercises

Our Chin Up Bar that has been attached to the Super Bench/PRO is just the right altitude scale for users of different heights. The distance between handles is also perfect for doing upper body workouts that target different muscle groups.

  • The chrome upright tube is 48” long with its top reaching 81.5” up to 89.5” above the floor in 2-inch increments to accommodate users of almost any height and ceiling heights.
  • The handlebar is 48” wide with 18-inch spacing between the neutral grips.
  • It has two different grip positions (wide and narrow), conveniently allowing you to vary your hand placements according to your preference.

Functional, comfortable and safe to use

The size of the handles and the material used to cover them help you maintain your grip so you can complete your workout without slipping off or letting go prematurely. Compared to chin-up bars that require being bolted to the wall, the Ironmaster Chin Up Bar is much safer to use and more gentle on your hands.

  • The Chin Up Bar grips have a 1.25” diameter—an ideal size for wrapping your hands around them comfortably.
  • Its handles are covered in neoprene rubber grips to protect your hands from too much friction that could result in calluses.
  • Better and safer to use than chin-up bars that need to be bolted into walls, doorways or ceilings.

Space-saving and easy to install

The Chin Up Bar doesn’t require additional floor space apart from the area already being occupied by your Super Bench/PRO. Assembly tools are included in the package to make setting up at home quick and convenient.

  • Since this attachment connects to the spine of your Super Bench/PRO, it hardly takes up any additional space in your home gym.
  • Simple assembly with the included Allen wrench.
  • Just plug into the bench and set with the pull pin.

I had the original Pull up attachment from 2007. I feel this one is much better. I love having the palms facing angle and I swear even the leather wrapped handles are even better quality materials now. I have the Chin up Attachment for the IM2000 but still use this for my private bootcamps. Its perfect when training groups of people. You aren’t going to able to do kipping pullups like you can in Cross fit but slow and fast pull ups to get your back super pumped is easy with this stable accessory.

Just got it, and did a lot of research before diving into the Super Bench Pro system. The pull up bar seems sturdy and heavy duty. I didn’t want a doorway pullup bar, they never feel right and make me nervous for the doorway. This feels much sturdier. I will say, there is a little bit of wobble from side to side for the bench. This might have to do with my bench being on carpet, but it’s not that big of a deal. When your bodyweight is added, it feels solid. Can always put plates on the base if needed. Yes, inserting it when it’s flat would be best, it’s top heavy and can feel like a little workout just loading it onto the bench. Glad I went with the Pro with the updated attachment system. Go for it!

Love it! It’s solid and easy to use!
I’ve owned this attachment for several years, using it regularly. It works exactly like you would expect it to and I only experience a little bit of wobble on the last few reps. It’s at those times where my form isn’t at 100% but I can get there with a little inertia. At those times the balance of the super bench becomes off a little bit and some counterweight placed on the front feet of the bench eliminates the wobble.

    Great Bar
I bought this along with the Super Bench and Cable Tower and so far it’s been great. I’m 5’10” and 205lbs and this thing is very solid and does not wobble or rock at all when I’m using it.

Thanks to Ironmaster I have an entire home gym that fits into a 5 foot by 4 foot section of my bedroom when put away (this includes weight plates and other accessories).

I have used this attachment on my Super Bench for pull ups and chin ups. With proper form, this attachment is very sturdy and reliable. I love how it helps save on space and you can easily adjust its height for ceiling clearance.

A good solution if you have limited space
I am really happy with the bench and the attachments. This , and the dip attachment work really well for me.I bought a tower to do P90x3 and it served me well( I have a review on it ), but it took up so much valuable space, that I took a leap of faith , sold it, and bought this instead. I’m now doing the elite block of P90x3 , and this thing works great.I have to be more careful with my form, compared to the huge tower, but you would really have to be kipping to make this thing tip over. The materials and construction are top notch…especially the welds.I’m not going to say that is its 100% perfect. I would much rather have a permanent bar hanging from the ceiling, but this is a pretty great solution for people who have limited space.

A little wobble now and then, but overall I like it. I use it for P90x since there is no place I can put a door pull up bar. It has served me well. Very well built.

Very strong and high quality – concerns resolved!
I will say that the Dumbells are very good quality (or so I thought) the handles are chrome dipped, and have begin chipping. I hope the pull up bar does not follow it’s cousin!

    chin up bar
Bought this Chin Up Bar to go with the Ironmaster workout bench for my son. My son loves it. He’s been wanting a sturdy chin up bar for a while now. We have tried the ones you attach to your door frame but they didn’t work for him. This is a great product and would highly recommend it. Easy to assemble too.

Great attachment if you are in the Ironmaster “ecosystem”
I have been lifting for 20+ years and have been through home gyms and commercial gyms. I have used virtually EVERY piece of equipment out there. While Ironmaster products are not true commercial pieces of equipment, they are a heck of a value for what you pay for them. The chin up attachment is no different. I am 250lbs and use this with a weighted vest for pull-ups. It has the potential to tip (if you are really poor with your form), but I would have to say this is at least as stable as any “power tower” you would buy, if not more so. Grips could have a tad more diameter to them, but I use “fatgripz” to increase the diameter anyway, so no big deal. Don’t believe the hype that you need a commercial gym to get in shape. The ironmaster bench, coupled with various accessories, and a set of 5-130lb powerblock dumbbells, have given me workouts that rival those I have had at top notch Gold’s and World gym franchises.

    Just OK,
I’ve had this for a little over a year – it’s durable and works OK. Using a weighted belt causes problems due to the weights hitting the arc of the bench. Tilting the bench a little causes one side to lift up a bit – not as solid as I would like – you can anchor it with weights on the legs to remedy this. Overall, it is a little worse than a power tower, but if you don’t have the space – it works.

    works great…
but since this is mounted high up from the bench there tends to be a lot of wobbly movement when doing quick reps. i suggest weighing the front down with some 45 lb plates to fix this problem.

    Solid well built attachment
I bought this attachment for my superbench and love it. This attachment for the Super Bench is a great way to work your lats and arms. Do chin ups or pull ups without taking up more space! The bar is adjustable in height from 78 to 89 to fit most anyone and is rated for 300 lbs. Neoprene grip area and chrome frame tube. Wide grip, narrow grip or neutral grip options. This attachment like all Iron master products is solid, well built and will last forever.

    It works
Very convenient for small spaces. Sure the bench can wobble if you’re off balance, but that’s your problem to fix. If the bench tilts all the way over your feet are still close enough to the ground to catch it. That has not happened to me BTW. I wish it had grips for the center grip. Wear gloves or use a towel if your hands get sweaty.

IMO, not worth it if you’re going for the dip attachment also
The chin up attachment itself is fine; I’m 5’11 and weigh about 220lbs, and I have no issues with stability or wobbling. However, if you’re thinking about buying this and the dip attachments with the Superbench to save money and space vs a power tower, consider the following … This attachment is $85 and the dip attachment is $55, which equals out to $140. You could get a decent power tower for that price, and you wouldn’t have to always swap out the attachments, which is especially handy for the chin up bar, because it is very long and top-heavy, and a bit of a PITA to get on and off. Speaking of long, the chin up bar is about as long as the Superbench is and is wider as well, so I’m not sure why other reviewers say that it takes no additional space, unless their chin up bars are being sucked up by a black hole when not in use 😛 Thus, although this plus the dip attachment may take up a little less room than a power tower would, the amount of space I saved wasn’t as much as I thought it would be, due to the chin up bar being as big as it is. As for me, I just moved into a new place and purchasing a power rack which has a chin up bar built in, so I sold the Superbench chin up bar and keeping the dip attachment.

I’ve given away all of my other chin up bars.
If you wanted to do kipping chins or swings of any type, you’d need more stability & more lateral clearance, but for straight-up-&-down chins & pulls, this is a great convenience: More stable & higher off the ground than all but the best doorway bars, plus it’s portable, & takes up no additional space, as it’s attached to a (great) bench that I needed anyway.

    Great addition to the bench
Great attachment… easy to install and reasonably stable. It has a nice rubbery material on the bar that provides for a comfortable grip without being too spongy.

    Stable, excellent attachment for Superbench
My concern when purchasing this attachment was its stability – would it wobble while I was doing pull ups/chin ups? I am 185 lbs and am glad to say it is stable. I live in an apartment, so I don’t have room for both a bench and more expensive power tower, but I did want something a bit more robust than the removable/portable door jam bar I had been using. This attachment fits the bill perfectly. In fact, I find the whole line of Ironmaster products (I own the Quicklock Dumbbells , Super Bench , Super Bench situp attachment , Super Bench dip attachment , and this chin up attachment) to be a good solution for someone who wants a versatile, durable, yet compact home gym. My one complaint with the chin up attachment is that it is very tall/long and top heavy so you have to be careful when attaching/removing it from the super bench. I don’t really consider this a design flaw of the attachment, though, it’s just the nature of the item.

    Super Mom

    Works great
I purchased the chin-up bar, along with many other attachments for my Superbench. I love not having to purchase a separate machine to do pull-ups. It is height adjustable, so even I can reach it from the floor and I am only 5’3″. I don’t typically do chin-ups without help from a gravitron or something similar, so I use a step stool and use my legs to help when needed. I’m sure I’ll grow stronger and not need the step stool soon. Also being a short female slightly over 100 lbs,I have to be very careful when installing and removing the chin-up attachment. The attachment is very good quality metal, and is top heavy….so installing and removing is a minor workout for me. Update March 27,2009. I now install the attachment while the bench is flat, rather than raised. Installing the attachment is now a breeze.
